Public Loan Records, Not Sales Decks
Every number here comes from the SBA's own FOIA-released 7(a) loan dataset -- not a franchisor's discovery-day pitch.

How This Works
We pull the SBA's public 7(a) loan dataset
Every loan the SBA has approved since FY2020, released under FOIA at data.sba.gov -- including a franchise-code field for loans tied to a recognized franchise brand.
We group by franchise brand
Loans are grouped by the franchisor name on file with the SBA, then aggregated into loan count, dollar volume, state spread, and year-over-year growth per brand.
You see who's actually growing
Franchise financing is a leading indicator of real unit openings -- a brand with rising SBA loan volume is a brand that's actually expanding, not just claiming to.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where does this data come from?
The U.S. Small Business Administration's 7(a) loan program FOIA dataset, published at data.sba.gov. It's the SBA's own record of every loan it has guaranteed, including a franchise-code field for loans financing a recognized franchise.
Does this cover every franchise location?
No. Only locations financed with an SBA 7(a) loan show up here -- many franchisees use other financing (cash, conventional bank loans, franchisor financing) that doesn't appear in this dataset. This is a financing-activity signal, not a full outlet census.
Is this the same as a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD)?
No. We don't parse FDDs, so you won't find Item 19 earnings claims, investment ranges, or Item 20 outlet-closure tables here -- only SBA loan financing data. See the methodology page for what this is and isn't.
Is this free?
Yes. All rankings, brand pages, and category/state browsing are free. The underlying data is public record -- we organize and rank it.
